About Us

The Pompton Lakes Prevention Coalition was created to prevent underage drinking and marijuana use among our youth. Our group knows the needs and issues of the community because we are local citizens who interview, survey and collect specific Pompton Lakes information. We aim to collaborate with various community groups to bring about prevention strategies that will benefit our youth and make our community safer. Please join us!

Vision

Our Vision is by 2019, the Pompton Lakes Prevention Coalition will create prevention prepared communities through a collaborative effort to reduce underage drinking, marijuana use, the misuse of opioids and prescription drugs, heroin use and new and emerging drugs across the lifespan.

Creating Community Change

The coalition has helped train 3 local bars/restaurants in becoming TiPS (Training Intervention ProcedureS) certified. TIPS is a skills-based training program that is designed to prevent intoxication, underage drinking, and drunk driving.
The coalition combined forces with the youth coalition at the High School, club HAWC, in “Project Sticker Shock” to educate the public about selling and serving alcohol to anyone under the age of 21.
The coalition runs the Parents Who Host Lose the Most campaign within the community to educate parents about state and local laws regarding alcohol possession, consumption and purchasing for teenagers.

    Meetings

Please join us every 4th Thursday of the month at 7pm for our monthly Coalition Meeting.
Meetings are held in the CJM Building, 223 Wanaque Ave, Pompton Lakes, on the second floor.
Meetings are always open to the public and we are always looking for new community members to join!
