The Borough of Pompton Lakes has debuted a redesigned municipal website. The upgraded digital interface is designed to offer a more engaging and user-friendly access to information and improved functionality for residents, businesses, and visitors.
"The new website is a big step in the right direction to provide our residnets with up-to-date information about happenings around the Borough and services available to them," said Mayor Mike Serra, in announcing the new site.
The site now features modules that look to increase citizen engagement and provide improved customer service and connections online. Advanced features include News Flashes, Notify Me, and Report a Concern functions. These tools enable citizens to report, receive and share time-sensitive information. The site also provides links to community organizations and resources. In addition, the convenience to pay online for many activities and licenses is coming soon.
The Borough is also launching new social media sites on Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube. This will allow the Borough to connect with residents in the ways people are now used to communicating - letting them know of upcoming events, sharing interesting and fun information about the Borough, and providing critical and timely information.
Along with the new website comes a new web and social media logo, designed by Pompton resident Erin Chazotte. Her logo was selected as a winner of a design contest sponsored by the Borough.
The Borough's Technology and Innovation Committee, started in 2016, researched and held interviews with a number of website vendors before recommending Civic Plus, a web design firm based in Manhattan, KS. Civic Plus has partnered with more than 2,000 clients in the United States and Canada, developing web-based solutions for local governments to share information with citizens in a more efficient and effective manner.
"We (the Tech Committee) started the process of a new website by doing a survey for residents to understand what they need, want, and look for when they used our website," said Councilman Erik DeLine - Chair of the Technology and Innovation Committee, "This helped us design a new site that not only is more flexible, attractive, and responsive, but really adds value to what the Borough provides in services and information."
Over the next several weeks and months, the Borough of Pompton Lakes will continue to add content and develop features of the new website.
